K is for Knees (A-Z Blogging Challenge)

~

Continuing my journey on the A-Z blogging challenge . . .

K is for Knees . . . as in oh my aching!!!!!

I realize I am not in my twenties anymore, regardless of how young I look (so I'm told) but Geez Louise my Knees! They feel every bit of my age (which is well beyond 20...well!).  But aching knees? I'm not really that old, am I?

I'm trying to exercise (thus my new found dance classes) as I could stand to lose 40lbs, but lawdy!  These granny knees can't take it! This is a picture of me in October 2011. Don't I look like my knees should work just fine?  I'm just saying!

Maybe it's time for me to face the music. I'm not as young as I want to think I am. As a matter of fact, my 26-year old is expecting a baby this summer, which will officially put me in Granny status. Maybe my knees know this and feel like they are acting accordingly.

Somebody bring me a GOOD BOOK and rocking chair! Sigh!

I is for Ignore and Invite (A-Z Blogging Challenge)

~

Okay - so I'm behind (again) on the A-Z blogging challenge. Today I should be on L, but where am I? on the letter I. So in an effort to catch up, here it goes.

I is for Ignore. As in ignore my soon approaching May 5th deadline to have my manuscript turned in. I know I should give attention to it, but remember my E is for Empty day?  Well my mind is still empty about this story. Can't come up with a single thing. So I guess it's easy to act like I don't see that huge deadline running towards me at breakneck speed and play with my friends on Facebook (F is for Fake Facebook Friends) instead.

In the meantime I is also for Invite!  I invite you download a FREE copy of Bubblin' Brown Sugar - an anthology of love stories!  Free at Amazon through April 13, 2012.  Be sure to click "like" on the book's page right before you download it!

Share and tweet this free invite!

H is for Hooker (A-Z Blogging Challenge)

~

I've been a Hooker for about 3.5 years now.  I guess I have a pretty good pimp. He takes care of me without slapping me around and taking my money. (That is what I've always heard about the hooker/pimp relationship).

Anyway, what is funny to me is when people ask for my name (for general business reasons) they almost always act like they didn't hear the "Hooker" part.

"Can I get your name ma'am"
"Kimberly Hooker"
"Kimberly . . . what was the last name again?"
"Hooker."
"Uh, Hooper?"
"No, Hooker. H-o-o-k-e-r."
"Hooker?"
"Yes, Hooker. Like a woman on the streets? Hooker."
"Okay (relieved chuckle). I thought that was what you were saying, but I wasn't gonna ask."

Clay and Kimberly Hooker
I've never seen this happen to my husband.  He gets asked his name and they hear him clearly every single time.   Guess they just don't want to offend me.

By the way, I'm loving this t-shirt, and I love even more that the K is red, clearly signifying Kimberly!  My only thing is, well, you know what would happen if I wore it out . . . I probably would sell a lot more books!

Click here for a free gift from a Hooker (April 11-12th only). Be sure to click the "like" button too!

G is for Get it Together (A-Z Blogging Challenge)

~
Day 7 of the A-Z Blogging Challenge!

G is for Get it Together...which I'm trying to do...kinda. You see, I just started dancing with this Dance Company last week, not that I am awesomely talented in dance, but because I've always liked the performing arts, knew that the group would stretch the bit of skill that I do have, and I've got quite a few pounds of "extra" to get rid of.  I take five classes a week in all, with the most skill stretching one being four hours long.

So far, the classes have been wonderfully challenging, and I always leave the studio completely drenched in sweat, exhausted and sore. I've had to buy a knee brace and rub something called Tiger Balm into my joints, but I like it. As a matter of fact, I love it. So the part that I need to get it together in is...after I finish my 2-4 hour sessions, I feel like I DESERVE to eat any thing I want. I feel like I deserve a candy bar, an ice cream cone or that Chick-Fila sandwich and large sweet tea. I feel like it won't do any damage at all after I've left my sweat on the dance floor. I don't want a Gatorade or a protein bar for a reward.  M&Ms appeal to me so much more. Or a honey bun covered in thick white icing. Mmmmm!

I know it's not right to think that way. That's why I've got to get it together and start toting apples and trail mix in my dance bag.  Especially if I plan to dance these pounds away.

Get it together Kimberly; get it together!

F is for Fake Facebook Friends (A-Z Challenge)

Keeping up with the A-Z Blogging Challenge!

F is for Fake Facebook Friends.
I have 3,415 "Friends" on Facebook.
Don't be impressed. I probably only really know 10% of that number.
And then only 10% of those actually engage with me.

And yes - I post interesting , funny , thought provoking, motivating, inspiring, personal things...and photos...and quotes.  I just don't play games and grow vegetables. I like other people's status posts, and comment on their baby pictures and support their work and share their stuff. Seriously - I do!

You would think with that many friends, I would have no problem getting likes, free ebook downloads, book sales, reviews, comments and blog visits right? As my aunties use to say some years ago "Chile please!" Not even close.

3,415 friends? Yeah right. Who am I fooling? Only myself and maybe 90% of my Facebook Friends. But that number sure looks good!

Hey! Since you're here, be a friend and like my Facebook Page!  Just click HERE!  Or the least you can do is leave a comment below.  :-)

E is for Everything, Empty and Elusive (A-Z Challenge)

It's day 5 of the A-Z Blogging challenge - also known as day E. So here it goes.

E is for Everything, as in it's going to take everything within me to get my next novel done on time.

E is also for Empty, because I'm empty of ideas. There's nothing in my head right now for book. Nothing. No names, no plots, no scenes . . . completely empty.

E is for Elusive. Authors know that sometimes characters write themselves. They direct your fingers and tell you what they want to happen to them (and sometimes to others). But my non-existent characters are being completely elusive.

It's a bit chilly outside today, so I think I will make me a cup of hot chocolate, prop my feet up, read a few blogs posts from others that are participating in the blog challenge, and see if I can get some inspiration from it.  In the meantime, here is where you can find my other A-Z posts:

D is for Deadlines (A-Z Challenge)

~

This is my 4th post as a participant in the A-Z Blogging Challenge, and brings me current! Yippee!

Anyway. . . D is for Deadlines. I have a love/hate relationship with deadlines, or better said I have a hate/love relationship.  I hate them, but I so love them! While some people strive to get things done far before the deadline, when it comes to writing, I find my less to be less motivated the further the due date. It's only when the deadline puts me in panic mode that something kicks in and allows me to be at my most creative point.

Wait . . . it's not just with writing, it's in other areas too. Hmm.  That almost makes me a procrastinator doesn't it. I don't like that word being linked to my name. I shouldn't be faulted though, if a deadline is my inspiration should I? I mean as long as the job gets done . . . that's what really counts. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

So, now that I am 30 days away from having to turn in my the manuscript for my next novel, I suppose I should   get started.

30 days and counting!

C is for Creative Catch Up! (A-Z Challenge)

Today is day 4 of the A-Z blogging challenge and I should be blogging on the letter D, however I am a day behind, so C is Catch Up, which I am desperately trying to do.  Well maybe not desperately . . . actually, I've been kind of chillin', so C is for Chillin' too. Which I need to stop doing and move on to D is Desperate.

I've been on chill mode because my creative flow has been a little stagnant lately. I just haven't been able to thinking of anything funny, witty, interesting, crazy, intriguing, engaging to write about. Not just for my blog - but also for my next novel . . . which is due in 30 days.

Yeah, C is definitely for Creative Catch up, and yes, I'm getting pretty desperate. But I'm going to get it together. Maybe you can help - please share your strategies on how you get your creative juices flowing when you get stuck.

B is for Bye Belly and Booty! (A-Z Challenge)

~
I'm on day two of the April A-Z Blogging challenge. Actually I am a day behind. I'm supposed to be on day C, but let me get B out the way first. I promise to do my C post before the day ends.

So . . . B is for Bye Belly and Booty!! Not only am I doing the blogging challenge this month, but I also started taking classes at a dance studio, Beauty for Ashes Dance and Theatre Company. (Yay!) It's been a long time coming, and finally, I found a studio in my area that offers a wide array of classes and fits my budget.

Yesterday was my second day, and man oh man! It was a arms swinging, torso twisting, back bending, leg kicking, grande plie standing (forgot how to spell it - plee-ay) hard working, 2.5 hour session. I came home sore and drenched in sweat from top to bottom.  If I keep this up, all my extra belly and booty will be gone in no time!

B is also for Bubblin' Brown Sugar! A collection of beautifully crafted love stories compiled into one fantastic anthology. And not just any old love stories, the typical boy and girl meet, fall in love and live happily ever after. Nope. These couples actually have some real challenges - like real people.

Available exclusively at Amazon.com, I invite you to read the first story for absolutely free by downloading a sample!  Just click HERE or on the image of the Kindle Fire on the left.

In the meantime - I think I need to stretch my muscles while I wave goodbye to the belly and booty!  Maybe by the time I get to W this month, W will be for weight loss!  :-)

PS - if you're an author and would love to have YOUR book showcased on a Kindle Fire (or other ereader) just click HERE!

A is for Author Advertising! (A-Z Challenge)

~
I decided to take the A-Z blogging challenge for the month of April...except I forgot to post yesterday, so I'm starting a day late. But better late than never right? Especially if it's only for one day!

My A blog for today is about Advertising . . . particularly for  ebooks since I'm an author and all.

Here is a great way to showcase your ebook - instead of just displaying a flat cover, why not advertise your book by showing it on the screen of your favorite ereader!  Any author worth their ink knows that showing is better than telling, so instead of telling prospective readers that your book is available on the Kindle, Nook, Ipad, or smart phone, SHOW them.  Get your image showcased on the layout of your choice, then use the image as your profile picture, on your Facebook wall, tweet it out, share it! Become the envy of all your author friends!

You can upload 1 image and have it showed on the Kindle and Nook layouts . . .  or upload 2 images and have them both shown on the Kindle layout . . . or do an Iphone and Ipad layout . . . or!  Your options are endless!

OR you can order a full banner!  What a great cover image for your Facebook Profile or website!

EXAMPLE - Submit this: a simple book cover image

And get this in return! A full layout of your book cover shown in different ereader formats!

Ipad                     Iphone       -          Nook       -            Hard Cover        -             Kindle Fire      -      Kindle Keyboard

EXAMPLE 2 - Submit this: a simple book cover image

And get this in return! A full layout of your book cover shown in different ereader formats!
