My Birthday Report Card!

Well it's October 14th - also known as my birthday! I am thankful to God for granting me his constant love, mercy and grace, and allowing me to complete another year and live another day. I'm overwhelmed by the more than 200 birthday greetings I've received so far today, and the day is just getting underway!

Every year during my birthday season, I take some time to just reflect over my past years' journey, with the intent of tracking my success, recognizing my improvements, and identifying areas that could stand to be improved. Over the past ten years that I've done this, I've always found myself to be in a better position in some areas, while in others not so much.

Each year, I'm challenged to review these things:

My Priorities:
~ Where and how I spend my time?
~ Where and how I spend my money?

My Investments:
~ What investments am I making in myself?
~ Am I investing enough into myself?
~ What investments do I make in other people?
~ What are the returns on my investments?
~ Am I sowing in unproductive fields?

My Goals:
~ What goals am I working towards?
~ Do I need to change or realign my goals?
~ What is distracting me from reaching my goals?
     ~ Is my focus off?

My Character:
~ What are my character flaws?
~ How does my character need to be developed?
~ What does my character lack?

While I am grateful for the things I've accomplished, the person I am, and how far I've come just surviving the waves of life, If I'm honest with myself, I would have to sing the old Gospel song that says "Please be patient with me; God is not through with me yet!" I have to admit, sometimes my yearly report card doesn't look so great. But I thank God that he's giving me at least one more day to work on pulling my grades up.

Thanks for sharing my birthday with me!
