Are You Even Trying, Baby?

Clay and I like to play games. Scrabble, cards, Blockus . . . doesn't matter. Just some time spent together in friendly competition is both fun and healthy for our relationship.  If (by chance) we're playing something and Clay is beating me really, really bad, in his gloating he always laughs and says:

"Are you even trying, baby?"

Sometimes he just cracks himself up.  But anyway, I ran across this anonymously written poem (that had been reprinted by John Maxwell) that reminded me not just of how many times Clay has beaten me in something, but more importantly, how we should all dare to live.

There was a very cautious man
Who never laughed or played
He never risked, he never tried,
He never sang or prayed.
And when he one day passed away,
His insurance was denied,
For since he never really lived,
They claimed he never really died.

Wow!
What if you really started living?
What if you really started trying?
